CBS: U.S. Unemployment Rate Jumps
It is quite difficult to get people to be responsible and do something about their own welfare. Sometimes a little force is needed before someone springs into action (experience talking here, hah!).
Being unemployed is a terrible situation to be in. Getting a job is becoming harder and harder these days. Since employers have so many people applying for an open position, they can set high standards an applicant has to qualify for. Of course they do not only choose the one with the highest education and the best experience, but also the healthiest.
Discrimination? I don't know. I do think it's good to get people to be more active. For their health's sake. I am guessing the majority of jobs don't involve much physical activity. However, is it therefore justified for the U.S. Unemployment agency to rate people by their jumps?? And how are they rated, by height, or by distance? What's the minimum requirement for the jump?
Maybe employers can follow the example of the Japanese and incorporate a daily exercise, or work-out routine, at work!
