TIME: Has McCain Flip-Flopped on Torture?
It is terrible to inflict excruciating pain onto someone. It should be forbidden. Unfortunately, there are lots of people and industries who just don't care. They only care about getting what they want.
The thing is, you usually find out when it is too late. The pain is already present. We do have a choice though to stop inflicting it upon ourselves. No matter how great the pressure is.
Our desire to want to fit in and go with the latest hype, is being exploited by the fashion industry. They decide what it is we are going to wear. They go by the motto that being beautiful hurts. I think we give them way too much power. I do admire McCain's effort to try to fit in, but I am sorry he had to find out the hard way how painful is can be.
I think I am going to call for a boycott. Let's just not buy those hurtful shoes anymore. I never liked flip-flops anyway, they make me stumble. One good advice though Mr. McCain, don't try high heels. They are ten times more painful than flip-flops!
