ABC NEWS: Plus-Size Models Turning Heads
Finally! I have been wondering for a while now, when this change would take place. And I can imagine it has not been easy. It's all a matter of admittance and acceptance.
Look at all those models today. They are so tall and so slim, they almost look anorectic. It is understandable that any woman, who does not meet those criteria, becomes extremely self-conscious and almost ashamed of her weight. Yes, ashamed. Simply because her ribs are not clearly defined under her skin and her arms and legs do not resemble twigs. Therefore she does not meet the requirements of today's social standards of having "the perfect body".
Buying clothes has been a traumatic experience for many of the chunky women. It is no fun to try and squirm yourself in a size too small, because you can't accept and admit you are not a bag of bones.
I am so glad all of the plus-sized models have decided to turn their heads away from those non-fitting small sizes. When those don't sell anymore, the fashion industry can no longer ignore the fact their designs need to meet the women's qualifications and not the other way around.
"High Five", my chunky sisters! Doesn't it feel good to finally come out of the closet?!
