CNN: Tasing 'not a pleasurable experience'
I can imagine it is not, but it may be necessary in the near future, to take more drastic measurements. We have to be able to defend our territory somehow.
What struck me this morning, reading the news was, it's mostly politics or animals, making the headlines. I know we have been taking over the animal kingdom and confined them to restricted areas, but it seems like the animals have their own politics going on.
First, they start with subtle infiltration.
ABC NEWS: Just Like Having a Baby? Adopting Monkeys.
Once they are good and well settled they take over, knowing full well the family is the corner-stone of society.
Second, they watch our reaction.
MSNBC: Toilet-trained chimp on the run in California.
They want to make sure we are as emotionally attached to them, as we are to our own children.
Third, they find out how far they can go.
ABC NEWS: WATCH: Robber Is Armed ... With a Banana.
They placate us by pretending to be fools, so we won't have any suspicions about the situation at hand.
Fourth, they create a diversion.
CBS: Study: Penguins Signaling Oceans' Woes.
We are all focussed on the melting ice at the North Pole and totally unaware of what is really going on behind our backs.
Fifth, the revolution starts.
FOX NEWS: Giraffe Helps Camels, Zebras, Pigs Escape from Circus.
They finally give away the farm and go for it, while we are still in a state of emotional attachments, thinking how clever and cute they are.
Finally
, it's done.
THE NEW YORK TIMES: Science Times >> The Worms Crawl In.
Don't worry, we won't feel that anymore.
Knowing they are only going to get tased, not killed, works in their advantage. A little unpleasurable feeling is always better compared to being dead meat.
Teaching animals tricks, is one thing. Educating them, is a horse of a different kind. I didn't think it was a good idea to teach monkeys to read and we definitely should have taken control over, and censured, what they read. They got their ideas somewhere.
Does 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell ring a bell?!
